New Life Stories

Through my module in Project and Volunteer Management, I had the opportunity to lead my team of 4 others to plan and execute a roadshow @ Woodlands library to raise awareness about children with incarcerated parents with other children. We planned the roadshow from scratch and designed activities and a maintenance mechanism for the children to have fun and learn from. We were able to engage over 100 children who came to the booth. This event allowed me to demonstrate and improve my facilitation skills.

Our activity is a 'Choose your own adventure" game where participants are randomly given one of the 4 characters from different background and they attempt to play through the story with the character they got. Each character comes from background varying from poor to rich to favorable family situations to unfavorable family situations. The character's background limits the resources each character has and which path they can take. This emphasizes that children with incarcerated parents usually have to give up certain choices due to a lack of resources.

For my Statistics and research methods module, I was able to partner with AWARE Singapore to conduct a survey among youths regarding consent and to also do up a research proposal.

I , together with my classmates conducted a survey among over a 539 Youths to compile a research paper. The results gathered from our research are even being used by AWARE. This opportunity allowed me to improve my researching skills.

For our Managing Disabilities module, I had the opportunity to work together my fellow classmates to utilize Canva and to create from scratch, an Instagram campaign titled @projectcordate to raise awareness and spread love to individuals with ASD.

I worked on the research of content to share along with designing some posts and stories published.

We were able to reach out to 448 accounts with 70% of Instastories (Which was used to quiz and test the understanding of our audience) being answered correctly and showing that our project was effective in raising awareness and reducing misconceptions.
